In PSI I began to create an understanding of the classroom climate I wished to create. I believe a classroom must be a place of safety, mixed with discipline. These achieved, a nurturing environment emerges the students can grow in. The student work then becomes food for the growing student, rather than an imposition. When the students feel supported and respected, the learning experience becomes one of curiosity.
Attached are two photos. One is a picture of the script representing the homework students must undertake, but will do gladly when motived by a project they have ownership over. The second is a number of thank you notes written to me from various students and classes during PSI, representing the joys of a positive relationship with students which makes teaching a pleasure.
