3d design:
This object was created with the intention of making a functional object to show 3d design can make things with a higher fidelity than can be achieved by hand, yet also have practical utility. I was inspired by ancient greek marble sculptures, combining their artistic style and mythology, through the legends of Sisyphus and Atlas, to create a link between modern and historic. Thus the image speaks to our ancestors through their civilization holding up our modern technology, literally and figuratively. The smartphone/tablet stand was created using MakeHuman, and then exported to Blender to move the model. This was then imported into 123Design to create the base and stand. The object was designed to be used in an art or social studies classroom to speak about human proportion and design, or ancient mythology. It could also be used to illustrate the concept of support in an engineering context. Finally, I can be used practical as a stand for electronic devices (or anything needing display). The object can be scaled up for larger objects like picture frames.
Ideally it would be printed in grey to give the stone appearance. White, black, copper or other metallic colours and the like could also be used, though I would prefer to stay away from bright or primary colours. There are a few overhangs, which will require support, but the model can be sanded afterwards.

Mike Mountain Horse Project:
Unit plan:
This project began with interviewing the student I was paired with to determine her interests and build a relationship. Having done this, I created a unit plan for the two of us to work through focusing on Virtual Reality (VR). The unit plan is attached below.

Documentary:
In order to document my learning, I created a video of the project. The video captures the creation and learning process both for myself and the student I was paired with. I was inspired by the idea of making the virtual tangible and the tangible virtual. This interplay between the physical and virtual was primarily illustrated through the usage of the Google Cardboard viewers. the video itself was created with iMovie. Not all elements of my storyboard match up as I discovered new opportunities over the course of the project and because the phone I was using to capture video was most often being used in the virtual reality viewers! Enjoy the video!

Gamification of Education Presentation:
I created this presentation as a means to convey how teachers can use emerging technologies to incentivize student learning. The presentation covers how to use single games in a lesson, as well as how to create whole class roleplaying activities on a ongoing basis.
The presentation can be found Here.
